Welcome to Beacon Therapies for Children.

Developing healthy minds and happy children.

I work with children to develop their understanding of themselves; together we build their self-esteem, coping skills and resilience. Children secure the life-long skills to overcome adversity, develop inner strength and feel happier in their own skin, leading to more positive behaviour, better peer relationships, increased academic success and happier families.

Fiona was my first friend. She helped me be friends with other kids because I know how to play with them now and I’m not shy anymore.

Last year I didn’t do any work at all, I didn’t see the point. But now I like making my teacher proud and I’m doing better with my school work.

There have been some definite improvements in her behaviour. She is much happier in herself and she’s able to get on with other children better.

I enjoy play therapy, it makes me happy. We play fun games and tell stories and I laugh a lot.

She is a different child, her behaviour is so much better at home. She was angry all the time before but now she can talk about it and often realises she doesn’t need to be angry.

I find sitting still and listening really hard. With Fiona I can make as much noise as I want and jump around and play the drums and paint and be happy. It’s what I need to just let it all out.

‘I would highly recommend play therapy because it makes you feel less lonely and it’s good to be offered 1-2-1 sessions.’

There’s lots of stuff to play with. It’s been good. I wish it could go on forever.
